Fashion Models are used to display and endorse clothing. Fashion modelling may entail catwalk or runway modelling or editorial modelling, covering photography for ad campaigns, magazine spreads, catalogues and print. The emphasis of fashion photography is on the clothes or accessories, not the model. Fashion models may be used to promote various types of clothing, such as swimsuit, lingerie and bikini. Models are sometimes used in showroom, fit modelling, fitness or sporty modelling. Some are used for plus-size modelling or petite modelling.
In 1852 the first fashion model was described, a Parisian shopgirl, Marie Vernet Worth. She was a house model in 1852, to her husband, fashion designer, Charles Frederick Worth.
