Female body type
The Association of Model Agents suggests that female models should be around 86cm Bust, 61cm Waist, 86cm Hips (34 inch Waist, 24 inch Waist, 34 inch Hips) and between 173cm - 185cm tall (5 foot 8 inch - 6 foot 1 inch).
Today's glamour models generally have measurements closer to the AMA recommended shape, not all models have these exact statistics, and fashion houses require other sizes for their models. Though in some fashion industries, a size 00 is more ideal than a size 0.
The common thin shape of many models has been criticized for warping girls' body image and encouraging eating disorders. Fashion show organizers in Madrid September 2006 rejected models that were deemed to be underweight by doctors who were on hand. In February 2007, Uruguayan model Eliana Ramos became the third international model to die of malnutrition in six months, after her sister, Luisel Ramos died, also a model. The third death was Ana Carolina Reston. Luisel Ramos died of heart failure caused by anorexia nervosa just after stepping off the runway.
